Mainstage fieldwork, 5 July – 15 August 2011

The remaining four regions, Acıpayam, Akçaabat, Emirdağ and Kulu were simultaneously screened between the 5th of July and the 15th of August 2011 by the local teams set up by this year’s successful bidding company, IPSOS-KMG Istanbul. The teams, composed of one field supervisor and eight to twelve interviewers each, were trained in two-day briefings held in İstanbul and Ankara. The Line-Up team worked in close collaboration with IPSOS towards reaching the target of 1600 families. The screenings were followed by the telephone interviews performed centrally from Istanbul by a team of 16 interviewers.

As a result of the pilot and mainstage fieldwork activities, 1992 families were obtained. Family trees for all these families were constructed and with 1544 proxy interviews performed, information about nearly 20,000 individuals were collected. A total of 5478 personal interviews were carried out during the same period. Furthermore, the hard-to-reach migrants in Europe were traced for two months in May-June 2012, as a result of which the total number of personal interviews have increased to 5978.
